Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood Review

Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood Review Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood Review

Looks like it’s time for another dip into my Truefitt & Hill sample pack, which is, in my opinion, the best selection of samples available from any manufacturer out there. Sure, you have to pay for it, but I think the packaging is fantastic, the samples can be used for traveling, and no other manufacturer gives you a way to experience almost their entire line. Ok, micro-tangent there. The point is, I like this sample pack, and I plan on going through it until I’ve reviewed all of Truefitt & Hill’s offerings. Today’s selection is the Sandalwood line.

Shaving Cream

This shaving cream was a real treat to use. Just a small dab of cream (about the size of a dime) was enough to build lather for a full three-pass shave and plenty left over. Building my lather was exceptionally easy too. I might have used a little more water that I’m typically used to, but my newest brush holds so much that that wasn’t an issue. Shaving was extremely comfortable. I found this lather to be surprisingly slick for a cream. My experience has been that soaps tend to be slicker than creams, but that wasn’t the case here. This cream is available in both a tube and a tub.

Aftershave Balm

Outstanding! I can’t think of a better word to describe this balm than outstanding. This is truly one of the best aftershave balms I have used. It’s lightweight, but incredibly moisturizing. The scent is perfect; enough to know it’s there, but not overpowering in case you don’t feel like using the complementary cologne. The only addition I would make to this balm is some menthol, but that’s just my personal preference for a little cooling post-shave.

Cologne

Truefitt & Hill recently updated their sandalwood scent, and this is certainly an unique take on the traditional scent. I find it to be darker than other sandalwoods and lacking that creaminess that most include. However, I enjoyed the richer woodiness and smokier vibes I was picking up. I assume this is due to the introduction of cedar and tonka to the mix. Additionally, if I had my preference, this cologne would be a bit stronger. I could still pick up the fragrance eight hours later, but it was faint; more like a skin scent at that point. Of course, this could be due to the nature of the sample tube that doesn’t apply as well. My 1805 cologne in an atomizer bottle lasts all day and into the next.

All-in-all, the Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood is a fantastic product line. If you’re looking for a sandalwood, but want to try something a little different at the same time, these are the products for you.

Regards,

Tailor & Barber

Razorock Plissoft “Monster” 26mm Synthetic Shaving Brush Review

Posted on May 10, 2016October 4, 2017

Throughout the annals of traditional wet shaving lore, there are a certain number of products to which one could refer as “holy grails”. These are products which hold captive the minds, imaginations, and wallets of wet shavers the world over. From original tallow-based formulations of shaving soaps, to discontinued fragrances, to incredibly hard-to-find gear, these “holy grails” can turn this hobby (which arguably saves money) into an expensive, and often times fruitless, wild goose chase. Fortunately, several companies have developed the skills to re-create these sought after products, and none have done it better and more frequently than Razorock.

Herban Cowboy Dusk Aftershave Balm Review

Posted on February 23, 2017October 4, 2017

Sometimes I buy a new wet shaving product, either for my personal use or for a product review, and it gets lost in my shaving cabinet. Have you seen some of my pictures of my shaving cabinet? It’s overcrowded and not very well organized, to say the least. One of the products that stayed hidden for a little while was a tube of Herban Cowboy “Dusk” aftershave balm. I re-discovered this aftershave balm when I was digging around recently, and figured there was no better time to take this for a few shaves and put together another review.

Shave and Groom: Proraso Green Shaving Soap Product Review

Posted on January 14, 2015October 4, 2017

Several months ago I put together a review of the Proraso Green Pre-Shave Cream (which I love), and I figured it was time to continue the Proraso story and review the green shaving soap.  I know there are a lot of people out there are probably already familiar with Proraso,…
