Shave and Groom: Proraso Green Shaving Soap Product Review

Shave and Groom: Proraso Green Shaving Soap Product Review
Shave and Groom: Proraso Green Shaving Soap Product Review

Several months ago I put together a review of the Proraso Green Pre-Shave Cream (which I love), and I figured it was time to continue the Proraso story and review the green shaving soap.  I know there are a lot of people out there are probably already familiar with Proraso, but I would bet even more people aren’t.  If you are looking to start traditional wet shaving with either a cartridge razor or, better yet, a safety razor, Proraso products are the perfect starting point for both their quality and their value.  You may even already be familiar with Proraso and not even know it through their partnership with C.O. Bigelow and Bath & Bodyworks for Men.  Since 1948, Proraso has been producing quality shaving products in Italy, and the green shaving soap is one of their flagship items.

It’s been pretty cold in the U.S. lately (as if anyone living here didn’t know that), and some mornings I look out at the back yard imagining the frigid, crisp air wishing I had that type of refreshing kick in my morning shave.  On those mornings I reach for the Proraso Green Shaving Soap.  The classic menthol and eucalyptus is the perfect kick to jump start my day.  The soap leaves my face feeling cool and refreshed all day with zero post-shave residue or irritation and pairs well with any cologne.  This is one of my go-to soaps when I want to try out a new product too because I know how well it performs. Additionally, I don’t have to use it sparingly because it’s an incredible value under ten dollars on Amazon.  The convenient tub stacks away easily in my shave cabinet as well.

I highly recommend the Proraso Green Shave Soap for new shavers and veterans alike.  It’s a classic men’s product with great history and high quality.  When you shave you can almost picture a side-street barbershop off the Piazza Navona in Rome and smell the espresso roasting in the background.  I have found my best shaves come when using this in conjunction with the Proraso Green Pre-shave Cream and the Proraso Green Aftershave Splash.

Recently one of the most popular posts I wrote has been a look at some tools for guys with thinning hair. I figured it was time to take another look at some tools I use to keep my hair under control.

Clarins’ Mens Skincare Review

Posted on August 10, 2018January 10, 2019

I have somewhat difficult skin. I mean, I’m very fortunate that I don’t have terrible acne or eczema or another skin condition. That’s a far worse situation than what I’m dealing with. So take what I have to say with a grain of salt, and I should probably just be…

Fine Accoutrements “L’Orange Noir” Review

Posted on June 14, 2016October 4, 2017

When I first started my journey into traditional wet shaving, there were three brands that initially hooked me. These were the products which showed me the possibilities of what shaving could be, transforming it from a daily chore to an experience of the senses and a lifetime skill. Fine Accoutrements was one of those three brands.
