I Finally Found a Skincare Regimen that Works

Peter Thomas Roth Acne Kit Peter Thomas Roth Acne Kit

I haven’t truly suffered from acne, but like most guys, I haven’t had perfect skin either.  Throughout my teen and adult life, I’ve definitely had my fair share of blemishes, pimples, zits, blackhead, whiteheads, etc.  Regardless, my skin has not been what I want it to be.  I will freely admit that part of my problem, especially when I was younger, was not taking care of my face properly.  Another part of the problem was not understanding what it meant to have combination skin and how to take care of it.  As a result, I have tried numerous face cleansers over the years.  Some have worked well, some have not.  Most were very good, just not right for my skin.  Finally, after years of experimentation, I was able to find the right one for me!

My wife uses the Peter Thomas Roth eye cream, and being curious about the brand, I decided to look into it more.  Peter Thomas Roth is a real person who was tired of products that didn’t work for him, so he decided to go ahead and make his own.  He focuses primarily on acne care and anti-aging.  I had never heard of Peter Thomas Roth before, but I’m always up for trying new products.  The real difficulty in trying to find the right products for you is the amount of money wasted on a full skin care line, only to find that it doesn’t work. I hate spending money on things that don’t work!  Luckily PTR has solved this problem with their acne kit.  This $35 bundle contains travel sizes of a stellar skincare solution including the PTR Blemish Buffing Beads, the PTR Beta Hydroxy Acid Face Wash, the PTR AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel and the PTR Acne Spot Treatment.

The Blemish Buffing Beads are incredible.  This is a face wash mixed with mildly exfoliating jojoba beads.  This exfoliating wash is mild enough that I can and do use it every morning.  The hidden beauty of this face wash is how great my shave is after using it.  Because the beads are really mild, I can use it every day.  However, they are rough enough to help lift my facial hair before I shave resulting in a closer, smoother shave.  It really is the perfect mix of gentle and rough.  The salicylic acid has helped clear my face, but I am also pleasantly surprised by the improvement in my shaves.

The Beta Hydroxy Acid Face Wash is mild enough to be used every night, but strong enough to remove all the dirt and grime from my day.  You can feel the quality of the wash after you use it.  My face just feels cleaner.  After a splash of cold water, I follow up the Beta Hydroxy Acid Face Wash with the AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel.  This is gel is a mix of salicylic and glycolic acids that is part of my nighttime regimen along with the Beta Hydroxy Acid Face Wash.  After I use the AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel my skin feels perfect.  It dries incredibly quickly and I have already seen the reduction in fine lines around my forehead.

Now, no face wash system will keep your face absolutely clear.  That’s why I love the Acne Spot Treatment.  When something undesirable does pop up, I use just a dab of this cream overnight.  By morning the trouble spot has practically vanished.  It’s the perfect emergency problem solver for the night before a big date, a presentation at work or just when you need to fix a trouble spot.

The Peter Thomas Roth Acne Kit worked so well for me that I re-purchased the full-size bottle of each product after the travel sizes ran out.  And because it worked so well, I started using the eye cream too, but that’s a story for another blog post.  Remember, no two faces are the same, and what works for one person may not work for another.  That’s why I love this Peter Thomas Roth Acne Kit so much.  For $35 dollars, you can try it before you buy it, and the bottle sizes are decently sized.  The kit lasted me several weeks with daily use.  So, don’t go out and buy the full sized system right away.  Buy this kit first and see if it works for you, it did for me.

I’ve Been Frog-Eating

Last week was an incredibly exhausting week.  Between the unsavoury meetings, the endless tasks, and the other things I didn’t want to do, I learned a lot about handling difficult challenges that I needed to complete, regardless of my desire, or lack thereof, to do so.  First and foremost, my…

Shave of the Day: April 9, 2015

Posted on April 9, 2015October 4, 2017

Very spicy today!  This morning was a pretty chilly spring morning, somewhere in the 30s, and I decided to get a little spicy with it.  I’m still testing the Spiced Rum Shave Soap from All Soaps on Deck for an upcoming review, but I had to pair it with the…
