Fashion Week, Instagram, and Hurricane Relief

Posted on September 9, 2017September 28, 2017 By Drew

It’s New York Fashion Week, and that means my social feeds are jam-packed with bloggers attended glamorous events that I would like to attend. Now, high fashion isn’t necessarily my thing, per se. I prefer classic and timeless style instead. Having said that, I would love to be a big enough blogger/writer to get a few invites to events like these. Maybe I can start with a few Philly shows. For now, though, I’ll just have to live vicariously through my blogger friends and enjoy their Instagram feeds.

In other blogging news, I joined the RewardStyle network this week. It may not seem like a lot, but this had been a goal of mine since I started Tailor & Barber. What it means for my readers is better tools and features on the website, and most importantly, easier shopping of my instagram feed. Just grab the Liketoknow.it app, sign up, and you can either have an email sent right to you for anything you “like” or screenshot my picture and shop right from the app. So, if you like something from an outfit I post or a “shave of the day” picture, now you can know exactly where to buy it. Keep in my I do get a commission from any purchases. This is how I “get paid” for my work on the blog. So, if you like what I’m doing, I would appreciate the support!

Ok, on to the good stuff!

Sales

This first one isn’t a sale, but I think it’s quite important. Did you know Allen Edmonds is donating $100,000 to the hurricane relief effort? Now, with addition of Hurricane Irma to the crisis, they are going to donate one sport shirt for every sport shirt sold through the end of the month. If you need a new shirt or if you’re just looking to help, this is a perfect way to do it.

Frye is offering an extra 25% off sale items this weekend with the code 25OFF. I’m partial to these double monks and these suede chukka boots.

Truefitt & Hill is taking 10% off their selection of razors when you use the code TRADITION10. So, whether you’re look for a new DE razor or want to start working with a straight, you might want to check this out.

The Nordstrom Summer Sale is running through this weekend, and there is A LOT on sale. I definitely suggest browsing through. Here are a few highlights I was able to quickly pull together: these sneakers, this tie, and these oxfords.

Articles

I have lots of love for the side hustle.

This is the best first suit advice you will get.

I’ve been a proponent of meditation for years. Do you have a spiritual discipline that works for you?

Well that’s one way to get some product awareness.

The Japanese have suit fitting down.

I certainly am not meeting my style goals for the year, but there’s still time.

What are your core values as a wet shaver? Mine are probably quality and focused intensity.

How’s post Labor Day life treating everyone? It’s seems like things suddenly got very real this week with school, work projects, soccer practices, intense workouts, and everything else that was held off during the summer. Like a boiling pot that couldn’t be contained any longer, life just had to return…

Oh man, it’s been a few weeks since I put a weekend reading together. I was having trouble finding articles which I found interesting. I‘m sure they were there, I just couldn’t see them. Then, suddenly, great reading material was everywhere! So let’s get right to this super-sized edition of…

Man, it’s been a rough couple of weeks. Between spring break, Easter, my son’s 4th birthday, a family-wide stomach virus, and a 3-day juice cleanse, I’ve been running on empty for a while. I needed a few weeks to recharge and focus on some jobs around the house. We hung some new art, cleaned off my wife’s desk (it was horrendous!), and cleared out a ton of old kids’ clothes and toys. I feel like I’m finally getting back on track here.
