Weekend Reading

Boots, Navy Suits, and German Nincompoops.

Posted on December 1, 2018January 10, 2019 By Drew

Ok, we made it through Halloween and Thanksgiving, and Christmas is not quite here yet. So it’s time to take a quick breather to help push through the rest of the holiday season. What better way to rest during the weekend than reading a few hand-selected articles and browsing a few hand selected items for your own pleasure. Self-care is just as important as taking care of those around you. So sit down for a spell, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s dive into a new edition of Weekend Reading.

Edwin Jagger is offering 15% off razors and brushes through the weekend!

Amazing read in Forbes on how Brooks Brothers stays relevant after 200 years in business.

Your friendly reminder that Allen Edmonds still has sales going on. I’m particularly keen on these boots and these boots. Plus, the entire Cordovan Collection is still $200 off!

If you need a reminder on what cordovan is, check this out.

Cashmere sweaters for $98??? Yes, please!

Watch this incredibly informative video from Brian about navy suits.

Years ago, I was a wine steward for a steakhouse. I always tried to find good wines at every price level, and never wanted to be viewed as an elitist, snobby sommelier. This article really spoke to me.

Cold weather fragrances are a must right now. This is one of my favorites.

I know I get too caught up in all the political nonsense on Twitter, etc. This was a great reminder to step back a little.

That being said, this article on Kaiser Wilhelm II was absolutely fascinating in light of our current political environment.

This striped oxford shirt is everything!

And speaking of stepping back a little for some leisure activity, I really need to learn to fly fish, as David continues to remind me.

Don’t forget a scarf out there, kids!

Don’t forget, New Year’s Eve is right around the bend too, so it’s it’s not too early to start talking about black tie.

Here’s a collection of a few things I’ve been reading and looking at this week. Here’s a new shaving technique that I’ll be trying this week. Brian always has fantastic tips and impeccable taste. I really loved this piece The Art of Manliness did on one of my favorites, Winston Churchill….

Oh man, another post? I better not make it a habit. I might just become a real blogger! But seriously, I’m really trying to get to the computer more and  write. These Weekend Reading posts are a great way to get the juices flowing and find some inspiration. I know…

Weekend Reading

Posted on March 11, 2017October 4, 2017

I’m getting my weekend reading out a little late today. Actually, this is sort of like the third of a four-day weekend for me. Both kids were off on Thursday and Friday for teacher events, so I’ve been on “dad duty” for the last seventy-two hours. Getting a few hours this morning to work on some writing is a much-welcomed break. Yes, I’m writing this on Saturday morning.
