Posted on May 1, 2019May 14, 2019 By Drew

By now it should probably be apparent that I’ve become a big fan of Beckett Simonon and their men’s shoes. I think they represent an incredible value in the ever-growing world of men’s footwear. I’ve already written about their Dean Oxfords, their Yates Oxford Brogues, and their Durant Oxford Semi-Brogues. But today I have some of my most exciting Beckett Simonon news yet! I’m partnering with one of my favorite shoe brands and two other menswear bloggers for a fantastic giveaway! One person is going to win three pairs of Beckett Simonon shoes of their choosing!

I want to talk about why I like Beckett Simonon to give you an idea of why this is such a great contest and why you should enter as many times as possible. The first thing I noticed on my first pair of Dean Oxfords was the leather quality. I have yet to come across another shoe manufacturer in this price range using leather this nice, I also love Beckett Simonon’s commitment to ethical standards for their work force, which includes paying a living wage, paid vacation, and minimizing their carbon footprint. The shoes are constructed with Blake-stitched soles which can be recrafted. This ensures your shoes will last years longer that any inferior (i.e.glued) shoe. Beckett Simonon also utilized a made-to-order (MTO) production model to keep prices lower. This means your shoes are made when you order reducing their inventory and your cost. Sure, it takes a little longer to get your shoes, but good things come to those who what, right? For all these reasons, I think Beckett Simonon shoes are an incredible value, even when buying them! In fact I even bought myself a pair of their Reid sneakers just to have them!

So what shoes should you choose if you win? Well, I don’t know what’s going on in your closet exactly, but here are my three choices for anyone looking to get a solid shoe collection going. I would start with something solid, basic, and necessary like the Dean Oxford Cap-toe in black. Then I would move onto to something versatile which I could wear with a large number of outfits like Yates Oxford Brogues in Bordeaux. Finally, I would choose something casual to work with denim like the Cohen Loafer in Brown.

Regardless of what you need, Beckett Simonon shoes are an exceptional value in the menswear world, and I can’t say enough good things about them. Make sure you enter the contest HERE today too!

What I’m Wearing to Christmas Dinner

When I was a younger, what to wear to Christmas dinner was easy. As a kid I wore some sort of chinos (we called them khakis back then) with a sweater. As I got older the sweater turned into a classic blue blazer. But times changed. Over the recent years…

Why I Hate Stretch Fabric

Posted on November 17, 2023November 15, 2023

If you follow this blog on any social media channels, you have probably seen some rantings against stretch or performance fabrics. I thought I might take some time to explain why I hate these fabrics so much. These days synthetic fabrics seem to be everywhere. Stretch, moisture-wicking, non-iron, wrinkle-resistant, performance…

*Beckett Simonon provided the double monk strap shoes featured in this post* A few years ago, you couldn’t swing a stick without hitting a pair of double monk strap shoes. They were omnipresent. However, it now seems like that trend has run its course. But I’m here to tell you,…
