Last year I was shopping for winter in one of my most favorite stores, Trove General Store, when I discovered one of my treasured pieces of Winter clothing. Trove has such a fantastic selection of unique items and exceptionally high quality gear, and you can’t say enough nice things about Molly, Charlotte and Foster. Not only do they take customer service to a whole new level, but they do it in a way that makes you feel like a friend and not a customer. I could go on and on about Trove (and maybe I will in another post), but for now I’d like to talk about the vest I bought there.
There is nothing worse than being cold. When you’re hot, you can always cool off with a cold beer, some freezing AC or even just sweat. However, when you’re cold, it gets into your bones, and there’s nothing you can do to shake it. And guess what? It’s coming. Soon. It will be November next week and before you know it snow, slush, freezing rain and cold, cold wind. Nothing can put a damper on your mood like those cold, bleak days in the middle of Winter. Last Winter I decided to fight back with a Canada Goose Lodge Vest.
Think of Canada Goose as sort of an Eddie Bauer or The North Face from our neighbors to the north. Their gear is designed for and tested in extreme climates, from gearing Canadian expeditions to Everest to supplying the Canadian Rangers, who patrol the northern coast of Canada. You know that has to be cold up there! This is a brand that makes extremely high quality and effective cold weather gear. I was able to survive last winter in the Northeast U.S. with just my Lodge Vest and some gloves through two 10-day freezing cold snaps! I know the price tag is a little steep, but I cannot stress the quality of Canada Goose’s products enough. They are worth every penny. One of the reasons I am excited for some colder weather (besides having fire going in the fireplace) is the chance to break my vest out again. I’m pretty sure I lived in it last Winter, and I will probably do it again this year. If you’re in the market for some new cold weather gear, make sure you check out Canada Goose.
