Weekend Reading

Posted on May 27, 2017October 4, 2017 By Drew

I know, I know. It’s been a hot minute since I posted anything, but I do have a few things in the works for next week. I’m hoping to get back to the consistency I had last year with posts and reviews. Life always seem to be crazy, and I can’t continue to use that as an excuse to not write.

I think it’s tough to write a blog day in and day out with little to no feedback from the majority of your audience. I didn’t realize that would be a challenge I would face when I started writing this blog. (I’ve also recently been sucked into the eternal political black hole that is Twitter). I’m also not saying that I need more feedback from any readers. I just need to do a better job of writing for the sake of writing and find self-appreciation what I do. (Of course a share or a retweet or comment wouldn’t hurt either)

Anyway, I pulled together some extra links this week, including a few quality Memorial Day sales.

I love this take on using your building block clothes repeatedly.

Justin Trudeau is definitely one of the best dressed world leaders out there.

J. Crew is running 30% off with the code SWEET this weekend. They are even including sale items like this field mechanic jacket.

If a company is still in business one hundred years later, they must be doing something right.

This a a great starting place to understand how a suit should fit.

Charles Tyrwhitt is offering 20% off EVERYTHING this weekend with the code MEMDAY. That drops this coat down to around $160!

A fascinating deep dive into the world of shirting fabric mills.

West Coast Shaving released a new line of shaving brushes, and Mark put together a wonderful write-up on the entire collection.

With Prince Philip’s retirement, MR Porter took a look at his incredible style over the decades.

Not many things scream summer more than BBQ.

Brooks Brothers is selling two polos for $99. I’m a big fan of the slim fit shirts.

Still not convinced that single edge blades are giving you the best shaves? Make sure you’re not making one of these mistakes.

My hair is absolutely not what is used to be. I’ll use any trick I can to keep it looking thicker.

I recently recommended this burr grinder to a friend, and he loves it. The beans are ground evenly ensuring your coffee brews more consistently and with better flavor. It’s one of the best things I bought this year.

No romp-hims on this list.

I rely a lot on layers for style in the colder months. But what should I wear in the summer?

Happy almost Halloween everyone! Do you have any plans this year? As I get older (and have kids) my focus has shifted from parties to family fun and candy. Oh, that candy. Starting now through Christmas my eating just goes out the window. But that’s how it is, isn’t it?…

Man, it’s been a rough couple of weeks. Between spring break, Easter, my son’s 4th birthday, a family-wide stomach virus, and a 3-day juice cleanse, I’ve been running on empty for a while. I needed a few weeks to recharge and focus on some jobs around the house. We hung some new art, cleaned off my wife’s desk (it was horrendous!), and cleared out a ton of old kids’ clothes and toys. I feel like I’m finally getting back on track here.
