Travel with Galen Leather

For a decent portion on the world, the holiday season is quickly approaching. Yes, I know it’s only October, but December will be here before you know it. August seemed to drag on forever, and then, ZIP, it’s almost Halloween. When the holiday season does hit, one aspect that is impossibly unavoidable for many people is travel. I love traveling, but when I do, I don’t want to leave all the comforts of home behind. I want to bring clothes that I love. I want to carry all my electronic devices. And I want my shave set up to go with me too. I wrote a post on traveling as a wet shaver a few years ago, but today I’m writing specifically about a few travel pieces from Galen Leather that have completely won me over. If you caught my Instagram stories a few weeks ago, I did a quick once over when I received these pieces. However, I still wanted to write a full review of the Galen Leather shaving products.

Galen Leather’s Story

Before I get into the two pieces from Galen Leather, I want to take a moment and share their incredible story. Galen was founded in Istanbul, Turkey in 2012 by a sister and brother team. When cancer knocked this family on its back, they dusted themselves off, picked up the pieces, and took their family in new direction creating beautiful leather goods. Galen uses all natural materials with locally-sourced leathers and artisan-created components all designed to only improve with age. Galen Leather Dopp Kit

Without a doubt, the first thing I noticed about this dopp kit, is the leather. The quality is outstanding. I mean it’s as nice as most of my shoes. I was so impressed that I reached back out to Galen Leather to find out what kind of leather they use. They let me know it’s locally sourced, vegetable-tanned cow leather, and they more I use it the softer it will get. The leather should age beautifully and develop a wonderful patina.

The design of the Galen Leather dopp kit is so well thought out too. The inside, which has more than enough space is lined with a waterproof lining. There are two internal stretch pockets and one zip pocket which can be used for storing smaller items. The bottom of the dopp kit has two non-slip pads so it stays just where you want it on the counter. However, I think my favorite feature is the YKK-zippered opening. I hate digging through a dopp kit that closes back up on itself limiting my chances of finding whatever it is I’m looking for. This kit includes an opening that pops open and stays open for easy access. It seriously makes everything so much easier. This dopp kit will accompany me on every trip in the future.

Galen Leather Shaving Travel Kit

Obviously the shaving travel kit is made from the same high-quality leather as the dopp kit, and together they make a beautiful combination. Unsnap the clasp on the travel kit to open it revealing compartments for a shaving brush, a safety razor, and DE razor blades. With this travel kit full and my new dopp kit loaded up with a tube of shaving cream and a simple after shave, I’m ready to take my entire shave routine with me. I love the simple but efficient design of this travel kit. There is a space for everything I need with nothing wasted or excessive. It does exactly what I want it to do (carry my shaving gear), in a classic and stylish setup.

Gone are the days of loading everything into a couple plastic bags or loose in travel bags. These two pieces from Galen Leather have changed my entire travel game. If you’re looking to travel in style with hand-crafted pieces that will last for a long time and get better in that time, I can’t say enough good things about the dopp kit and travel shaving kit from Galen Leather. They are absolutely worth every penny and will make an incredible addition to your shaving collection.
