Transition Clothes from Summer to Fall

Transition Clothes from Summer to Fall

Posted on August 26, 2019August 25, 2019 By Drew

Done. I am done with summer. Last week’s heat wave was my breaking point. Throw on top of that a beautiful reprieve this weekend with temps in the 70s all weekend (60s at night), and I’m so much happier. I’ve always been a colder weather guy. I run hot, and am forever looking forward to dressing for autumn. Unfortunately, we’re not there yet. We’re in that middle period of hot days and cooler nights. We’ll probably even have another hot spell before summer really ends and fall finally sets in, but I’m just over summer at this point. However, we all still need to dress for warmer days. Fortunately, it is time to start looking at moving into cooler temperatures. With that in mind, I’ve pulled together some pieces I found that work in that in-between time between shorts and sweaters. I’d like to talk about how to transition clothes from summer to fall.

This is a tricky time to dress because your full fall wardrobe will be way to hot, and your summer clothes put you in danger of freezing as the sun sets. Layers are your friend, but not layers that trap heat and keep you warm in the real cold weather. Instead the key is to wear a simple second layer that you can take off and put back on with ease. Sport coats, cotton sweaters, and sweatshirts are your ideal pieces. They are all something you can throw on for chilly mornings and cooler evenings, but can easily take off as the heat of mid-day sets in.

What I did with these clothes to transition from summer to fall was pull pieces that would all work together. The only item that I don’t think would totally work with everything else here is the orange Barbour vest. I just love the color so much, and I think it works so well with jeans and Oxford button down shirts that I had to include it. I’m also a sucker for almost everything Barbour makes. So take a look and don’t be afraid to let me know what you think. I love the feedback!

Wide Stripe OCBD: Brooks Brothers // Long Sleeve Polo: Brooks Brothers // Grey Sweatshirt: Sunspel

The time is almost here to start dressing for autumn. All of these pieces will be great additions to your fall wardrobe too. You might just need another layer. In the meantime though they are some perfect transition clothes from summer to fall.

The Best Polo Shirts for Men

Posted on April 11, 2015October 4, 2017

The Masters means it’s time to shop for polo shirts. It’s Masters Weekend, and, for me, that signifies the real start to spring.  Sure, if you want to go all pagan on me and call it by the phases of the moon that’s fine, but I’ll mark my arbitrary line…

Time to Thaw Your Wardrobe Too

Posted on March 9, 2015November 13, 2017

I was working out and meditating this morning, and suddenly noticed a few things.  There were pools of water fed from a few tiny streams in my yard.  I also kept hearing the drip, drip dripping of melting snow.  Instantly I knew the thaw was here!  After an unusually cold winter…

Kick Up Your Weekend Style

Posted on May 21, 2015November 13, 2017

Kick Up Your Weekend Style What is it that makes good style stand out?  What differentiates style from fashion?  I think style means dressing and grooming appropriately for all situations with a certain level of sophistication and accentuation without looking forced.  Ok, so what does that mean?  Well, let’s start…
