Pre de Provence 63 Shaving Soap and Aftershave Balm

Pre de Provence 63 Shaving Soap and Aftershave Balm Review

Posted on September 15, 2017September 28, 2017 By Drew

Pre de Provence gets a lot of hype. I’ve heard about these wet shaving products for years. But I thought it was just that…hype. I’m not sure why. I had no basis for my disbelief. I simply was a doubter. Then the 63 men’s fragrance range was released, and I heard and read more positive comments. So I decided I had to try the Pre de Provence 63 shaving soap and aftershave balm.

Right off the bat, this shaving soap blew me away. It’s a vegetable-based soap that lathers like a tallow soap. I had to check the ingredients several times to make sure I was right. I’ve only ever had one or two other veggie soaps lather like this did (Dr. Jon’s comes to mind). Within only a few swirls of my silvertip badger brush, lather started to overflow. What an easy and enjoyable soap to build.

The Pre de Provence 63 shaving soap shaves like a tallow soap too. It is extremely slick, while remaining enjoyably comfortable. The shaving performance of this soap is top notch.

Even after all this praise, my favorite feature of this shaving soap is the fragrance. I knew I loved it the moment I opened the tin. Packed with woods and tobacco, this is what a fall fragrance is all about. I was instantly reminded of one of my favorite fall scents, L’Instant de Guerlain Extreme (now EDP).

Between the lather, performance, and fragrance, this is now of of my favorite fall shaving soaps. I’m absolutely going to add this the next time I update my best shaving soaps under fifteen dollars.

With a stellar review like that for the shaving soap, the aftershave balm better match up too, right? Well…it does! This is an incredibly nourishing balm. It reminds me a lot of the L’Occitane Cade aftershave balm, but carries on the wonderful scent of the shaving soap. This balm provides an awesome post shave feel.

The Pre de Provence 63 shaving soap and aftershave balm left me more than pleasantly surprised. Sometimes it is good to believe the hype. I highly recommend both of these. They are some of my favorite wet shaving products I’ve tried this year. They’re perfect for fall too. The time is right. The price is right. Definitely pick these up!

Safety razor shaving product reviews are few and far between these days.  Because of my razor blade experiment, I haven’t had too much time to try out new products.  But don’t worry, I only have two and a half more weeks left, and then a ton of backlogged reviews to…

In case you missed it, the Razorock “XXX” line made my list of favorite scent combinations. But I figured this shaving soap and aftershave splash were due for their own review.

Penhaligon’s Blenheim Bouquet Review

Posted on July 1, 2016October 4, 2017

I’ve owned the Blenheim Bouquet Eau de Toilette for several years now (even though I’m just getting around to reviewing it), but I wanted to try the full Blenheim experience, so I picked up a few more flanker products in the line.
