Lumin Skincare and Grooming Products Review

Lumin Skincare and Grooming Products Review

Posted on October 2, 2020October 2, 2020 By Drew

Heres’ my problem with having combination skin. Too many cleansers either strip away every so that all I’m left with is a face that feels like I just stared at the open ark of the covenant or they are too gentle which leads to breakouts which I’m trying to avoid in the first place. Lumin Skincare is looking to walk the tightrope of the middle ground and offer a face wash that cleans deep and into pores without stripping all of my natural skin oils. Recently the good folks at Lumin sent me some samples of their grooming products to try out and see if they could actually live up to the task. I’ve decided to divide this review up into two parts. First, I want to talk about the skincare portion of Lumin’s line, and then I’ll get into the grooming products.

First and foremost, we have to talk about the charcoal face wash. I have reviewed charcoal face washes in the past, and have not always had the best of luck with them. They clean well, but I have found my skin responds better to salicylic acid. The Lumin charcoal cleanser is stronger than others I have tried in the past and I did have better results. What I found was that this cleanser really works best if you commit to it. No days off. No nights where you say you’re too tired to wash your face. I think it is quite suitable for almost all skin types, but I think adding something with salicylic acid during the week wouldn’t be a bad idea.

The moisturizer is excellent. It’s light and absorbs quickly. After I’ve applied it, my skin feels supple, but, at the same time, protected. Moisturizing is an important part of any skincare regimen. Unfortunately, I think too many men neglect this step. This moisturizer is a great way to get in the habit.

The eye gel is truly a great product. I’ve always had concerns about dark circles around my eyes, and that’s only been compounded by lack of sleep from stress while quarantining and homeschooling. I absolutely noticed a brightening of the skin around my eyes using this product. I’ve tried a good number of eye products over the years, and I think this one did a great job of brightening my eyes the next morning. The trick was to use very little. It’s a little runnier than others. So if you want to avoid sliming up your pillow case, go light and add more if necessary.

I think the face scrub was my least favorite product I tried. I personally prefer scrubs that are thicker and have some abrasiveness. Since I use them less frequently, I want a scrub that gets in there and exfoliates. I found this scrub to be thinner and more mild than I prefer.

Now let’s move on to the hair and body products from Lumin. The shampoo and conditioner were excellent. My hair felt softer and cleaner after using them for just a few days. More importantly, my hair did not feel stripped or dry at all. Some cleansers will remove all the good oils your hair needs too for the sake of “cleaning it”. This was certainly not the case with Lumin’s shampoo and conditioner.

For me, the best product I tried in this collection was the scalp treatment. It was refreshing and revitalizing. My scalp felt cleaner and I honestly think it helped my hair feel better too. I absolutely recommend this product. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the body wash. I found it difficult to lather, and it seemed generally thin to me. Not my something I would recommend using.

Overall, I was very pleased with the performance of Lumin’s skincare and grooming products. I’m so thankful they let me try so many out. It’s important to remember that skincare products are highly personal. What works for me, might not work for you, and vice versa. If I had to cherry pick a few to try initially, I would suggest the face wash, scalp treatment, and moisturizer. Please feel free to hit me up with any follow up questions.

Winter Skincare Essentials

Posted on January 23, 2016November 14, 2017

Well, winter just came roaring in like a freight train. It’s amazing to think that just a few weeks ago we were lamenting the fact that our Holiday Season was filled sunny, seventy-degree days, and, now, we have a full-blown blizzard to contend with. I mean, I’m writing this on…

Lebelle Soaps Milione Shaving Soap Review

Posted on May 19, 2015November 13, 2017

I’m still recovering from my “late night” viewing of Mad Men.  Oh, I know 11:30 isn’t late, but 5:00 am comes early, and I still needed time after the show to get my thoughts down for my post yesterday.  I didn’t write the article that night, but I did finalize…

Thanks for reading! The images I had done through a freelancer on fiverr, and the theme is simply a WordPress theme that I tinkered around with. I hope this helps!
