Clarins' Mens Skincare Review

Clarins’ Mens Skincare Review

Posted on August 10, 2018January 10, 2019 By Drew

I have somewhat difficult skin. I mean, I’m very fortunate that I don’t have terrible acne or eczema or another skin condition. That’s a far worse situation than what I’m dealing with. So take what I have to say with a grain of salt, and I should probably just be grateful. But I’m always looking for new skincare systems. Typically what happens is that my face responds in different ways on different parts. Either my forehead breaks out and I get whiteheads on my nose, but my cheeks and neck look great, or my forehead and nose look great, while my cheeks and neck dry up and look rough. So, in my seemingly never ending search for the perfect system I turned my attention to the Clarins’ Mens skincare line.

Face Wash

I really liked the way this face wash foamed up. I know that might sound weird, but I can’t stand non-foaming cleansers. I don’t ever feel like my face is clean with them. This face wash left my skin feeling refreshed and clean, but not over-dried. Unfortunately, I still had a little breaking out around my temples, which is a major trouble spot for me. I do think this is a quality face wash, and it would work extremely well for someone who has normal or dry skin. However it might just be a little too light for someone with oily skin.

Face Scrub

No need to bury the lede on this one. This might be one of the best face scrubs I’ve ever used, and it’s most likely the best of the Clarins’ Mens skincare line. From what I can tell, this is the same product as the face wash built into a scrub. The particles are an ideal size, and when combined with the cleanser they easily scrub the day away. Unfortunately, I don’t like using a scrub every time I wash my face, or I would use this every time. I’ve found that using a scrub too often results in in-grown hairs for me. Nevertheless, this is an amazing face scrub and can be used 2 to 3 times a week in the evenings with no issues.

Hydra-Sculpt Moisturizer

Upon hearing the idea behind the Hydra Sculpt Moisturizer, I was immediately skeptical. The claim is that this moisturizer tightens the skin under your jaw giving you more defined jawline. And dammit if it isn’t actually true! I couldn’t believe it. I mean, i didn’t turn into Josh Brolin, but I definitely noticed a difference. At $60 a bottle, is it worth it? That’s up for you to decide. I definitely does what it says, and it’s also a nice, light moisturizer.

Eye Serum

I turned 40 this year, and for the first time I’m really paying attention to how my eyes look. The dark circles show up most often when I’m tired, but they’re always there, lurking under the surface. The Clarins’ Mens Eye Serum does a fantastic job of brightening the skin under my eyes. I’ve been using this eye serum at night; however, I think I might find I like it even more if I use it in the morning, and then use the eye balm at night.

Conclusion

Look, I know the idea of using something more than a simple face wash (or even more than just soap) might be a little daunting to some of you. And the idea of using an eye serum might just blow a few minds here. If I was to suggest a starting point with the Clarins’ Mens skincare line, I would start with the face wash and a simple moisturizer and move on from there. I loved using these products. They’re the first skincare products I tested in a long time where I actually went and bought more. They’re gentle but effective. I definitely recommend trying them out!

Herban Cowboy Dusk Aftershave Balm Review

Posted on February 23, 2017October 4, 2017

Sometimes I buy a new wet shaving product, either for my personal use or for a product review, and it gets lost in my shaving cabinet. Have you seen some of my pictures of my shaving cabinet? It’s overcrowded and not very well organized, to say the least. One of the products that stayed hidden for a little while was a tube of Herban Cowboy “Dusk” aftershave balm. I re-discovered this aftershave balm when I was digging around recently, and figured there was no better time to take this for a few shaves and put together another review.

Cap’n Hunter’s Mutiny Bay Rhum Shaving Soap and Aftershave Review

Posted on March 8, 2017October 4, 2017

We all know pirates loved their rum. “Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum,” and all that. But did you know they used the rum for more than just getting drunk? Imagine yourself and twenty to fifty other men out to sea for months at a time with no running water, working hours on end to sail a ship, working up a sweat in the Caribbean sun on a daily basis.
