24 Sweaters for Men This Fall

Finally fall has returned to the Pennsylvania! Time to break out those sweaters and jumpers, men! I love sweater weather. Give me a pair of jeans, some brogues, an OCBD, and a V-neck sweater, and I’m a happy man. I think what I love about sweaters and sweater weather so much is how much easier it makes layering an outfit. The trouble with buying sweaters for men is making sure you have a variety of materials and thicknesses. There was a point in my life where I had sworn off cardigans, turtlenecks and v-neck jumpers solely relying on the basic wool, crewneck sweater to get by. I still love my crewnecks, but i reserve them for cozy days when I am looking to remain casual and comfortable. I don’t normally wear button up shirts under a crewneck; it looks too bulky at the neck. So I keep it simple with an undershirt. Merino v-necks (and cashmere ones when I can find good deals) are my go-to with collared shirts. I think the V created by the combination of the sweater and shirt collars creates a nice narrowing feature on my face and…

Chess, Movies, and Coffee

Happy almost Halloween everyone! Do you have any plans this year? As I get older (and have kids) my focus has shifted from parties to family fun and candy. Oh, that candy. Starting now through Christmas my eating just goes out the window. But that’s how it is, isn’t it? Anyway, this year I’ll be staying home to hand out sweets while my wife takes the kids out for the trick-or-treating. I would also love to get some feedback from you on the blog. Do you like the outfit inspiration posts? Do you like seeing the grooming product reviews? Is there any other content you would like to see me tackle? Anything I can improve on (besides consistency in posting, I’m aware of that one haha!). I’m open to any and all feedback to make this blog better and even more interesting. Please let me know In the comments below. And now, on to the posts. Do you compromise on your creative endeavors? Ralph Lauren is offering 30% when you spend $125 using the code STYLE17. I’m really digging this duffel coat, this scarf and these jeans (yes…

Getting Ready for Movember

Movember starts on Wednesday, November 1st. Are you ready? Movember, also sometimes known as No Shave November, is the month when men shave on the 1st and then grow out either their mustache or other facial hair in an effort to bring attention to men’s health issues, like prostate cancer and testicular cancer. The associated charity organizations have done so much to raise awareness and funds, but there’s always more to do. And always more money to raise. This year I’m going to be joining the No Shave November movement and grow out my beard, but I am going to run through a few steps I’m taking to make sure I’m ready. Luxury Shave Since I’m not going to be shaving, something I enjoy doing, for a month, I want my last shave to be special. I’m going to use one of my favorite shaving soaps and the accompanying aftershave. The brush has to be a silvertip for that added comfort. Hardware should provide comfort while achieving that extra-close BBS shave. That’s why I’m using this milder razor paired with this…

Fall Fashion, Cuffed Trousers, and Shaving with Acne

Oh man, I have a jam-packed Weekend Reading post for you all today. We’ve got three reading lists. (I can never get enough lists about books I should read) there are a couple posts on Shaving with acne. I’ve also included another post on the great debate over whether to cuff your pants or not. And there’s even a GQ article from 1967 that I dug up! Oh ya, and some fly fishing. Do you think the internet is making all style homogenous? If you’re going to name something after Friday the 13th, I’m in! I have always been interested in fly fishing. AoM put together an incredible primer on the subject. J. Crew coming up huge with this fall classic. Ready for fall clothes? Barron has a fantastic guide for getting all of your gear ready. I love this green face. The cuffing debate rages on. The perfect boots for fall, and they’re on sale! Three great articles from Sharpologist on shaving with acne. Why it happens. How to do it. What to use. How great is this sweater?! In my search for articles on men&#8217…

Palmolive Shave Stick Review

In a wet shaving world filled with exotic fragrances and artisan creations, I find it refreshing to use something simple and easy. One of my favorite “simple” tools is the shaving stick, and in my search for these easy-to-use products, I found my way to the Palmolive shave stick. I’ve already taken a look at a few others like La Toja and D.R. Harris, and now I’ve added to my every growing collection of wet shaving products.

Men’s Fall Style Essentials for 2017

If the weather ever starts acting like fall around here, I can actually break out some of my fall clothes like my duck boots and waxed cotton jacket. I mean, it’s felt like summer all week here with temperatures in the 80s. That’s very strange for Philadelphia this time of year. But the weather is eventually going to change, so I thought it was the perfect time to run down my list of men’s fall style essentials. I think what I love most about fall fashion is the functionality. Winter is cold, summer is hot, spring is wet. But fall? Fall can be all three. We need clothes that can face all three and adapt as the day changes. Consequently, this means waterproof outer layers, breathable layering pieces, tough footwear, and a few accessories to pull it all together. I also am really into the versatility of fall clothes. Want to wear jeans and a tweed jacket? Cool. How about some corduroy trousers and a denim jacket? Perfect. Mixing and matching is most easily done during autumn. Try rocking a blazer with a pair of shorts, and you might get a few looks. But…

Truefitt and Hill Ultimate Comfort Shaving Cream Review

For over two centuries, one name has been a cornerstone of traditional men’s grooming, Truefitt and Hill. Well, really two names, I guess. So how does a heritage brand respond to current market demands like shaving cream for sensitive skin? They reformulate and present their new Ultimate Comfort Shaving Cream. This new shaving cream, although they do have one newer, is Truefitt and Hill’s attempt to help those men who struggle with skin bothered by harsher fragrances and dyes.
